Yankel Meislin is a Chabad chassid based in Crown Heights, Brooklyn — an author and executive coach who runs Unshakeable Coaching, working with high‑performing men and executives through the hardest seasons of their careers. He is the author of The Journey to Oz.

His path to this work wasn’t academic. A difficult, drug‑involved adolescence on Long Island led to rehab before he was old enough to vote — and rebuilding his life from there, piece by piece, is where he first learned the difference between worth that’s borrowed from other people and worth that actually holds.

That rebuild is the spine of every talk he gives. Audiences don’t just hear a framework — they hear it from someone who has lived on both sides of it.

Today, the majority of Yankel’s one‑on‑one coaching clients are executives, founders, and entrepreneurs working through one of the hardest chapters of their lives: a marriage to a spouse who shows traits associated with a personality disorder, such as narcissism or borderline personality disorder. It was in that world — watching sharp, capable men lose their footing over an unpredictable partner’s mood — that Yankel first identified the pattern he now calls “outsourced worth.”

Most high performers never notice it, but their sense of self‑worth trades publicly and involuntarily, all day, based on things mostly outside their control — a client’s praise, a boss’s silence, a good quarter, a bad review. Yankel calls this pattern outsourced worth, and it has a real cost: when your sense of value depends on the last external signal, your judgment gets shakier exactly when you need it steadiest.
